Our Story
It started with mahjong, but quickly became about everything surrounding it.
The friendships. The traditions. The beautifully set tables. The places that stay with us. The kind of evenings no one is quite ready to end.
Salt Ivory was born from a love of mahjong and a belief that the objects we gather around should feel every bit as considered as the occasions themselves. What began as a simple curiosity about the game quickly became an obsession with craftsmanship, design, and the rituals that have brought people together around tables for generations.
But the idea was never simply to create another set of tiles.
We imagined a world of beautifully made objects designed to live beyond the game — pieces inspired by remarkable places, original artwork, storied interiors, natural materials, and the effortless elegance of a life well gathered.
Each Salt Ivory collection begins somewhere.
A coastline. The color of the water at a particular hour. The texture of sun-warmed stone. A hotel remembered years later. A table set beneath the palms. The smallest details become the starting point for original artwork, considered materials, and pieces designed not only to be played, but to be displayed, traveled with, gifted, and kept.
Behind every piece is an equal appreciation for what cannot be seen. More than a decade of experience across retail, branding, marketing, sourcing, manufacturing, finance, and supply chain shaped the foundation of Salt Ivory and an understanding that true luxury lies as much in how something is made as in how it looks.
That philosophy informs everything we create: thoughtful proportions, beautiful materials, original details, and objects intended to earn their place in the home.
Because ultimately, Salt Ivory isn't only about mahjong.
It's about the table and everything we carry with us long after we leave it — the places, the people, the stories, and the traditions that become our own.
For the tables you set. And the traditions you keep.
